There isn't much Theo Convington wants but can't have. His charms and green eyes have gotten him everything, from an easy job to his choice of easy women, and that's exactly how he prefers to live his life. Easy. ***Spoilers Included.***I had to stop midway, and felt anything less than 3 Stars would've been unfair. I couldn't get past the side conversations with the readers in the book. I guess they were there to add humor, but they were a bit annoying at times. Honestly, they were were annoying every time. 😭
I know a lot of writers in this genre take issues with men of color because of their past experiences with them, but no man or woman in any race should be given a crown. The black woman with the cheating and abusive black ex or current boyfriend isn't everyone's story. Not every black man and woman ends a relationship because of abuse, cheating, money, and other nonsense. Sometimes they out grow each other. Every race and gender has it flaws. I'm married to a man of color and the hate from some authors in this genre gets old, considering some of the black women reading these books, like myself, are married to black men. I'm married to a black man that treats me like a queen. I know there are no good men in my race but I wish more authors gave credit to the good ones too. Or showcased the bad non black ex or boyfriend.
Also, the comment about Jay Z being aggressive before Beyonce and him allegedly cheating was a bit much and too personal from an author's stand point. The author sounds like a hater. Unless she was present when Jay Z is alleged to have cheated the comments where a cheap shot. And I'm not even a big Jay Z and Beyonce fan. I would say more about what I think is behind that, but it would be mean, so I won't.
Also, just write your story about the two characters without the side conversations they're having with the readers. I found myself skipping over the secondary conversations. I just wanted to read a love story. The chemistry between the two wasn't great, not enough for me to overlook the words in italics and cheap shots.
Anyway, I couldn't finish the book. I purchased it, so I will keep it. However, it will be my last from this author.

Good reading, different
Loved it but close to the end the time frame gets kind of blurry
Love this book loves this couple and the lesson in it is the best one ever!!!! This is a must read!!
How do you do it, Xavier?? How do you keep writing love stories that make my heart go pitter patter?? Your leading men make my knees weak, your leading women make me proud, and your love stories give me the feelies! And Just Out of Reach has done it again! I'll be waiting for the next one!!
Loved this book. Truly states how easy it is to fall into alcoholism. And how people quickly judge you when you have a label as a convict and have no faith in them to change. And society doesn't give the ones that are trying to turn their life around and do better a chance.
You did an awesome job with this book.
This book was really good. Theo and Lane had great chemistry. It was nice to read about a regular couple instead of the billionaire saves the day type story. Theo and Lane had normal problems and concerns, and worked through them. Due to his difficulties, Theo came to appreciate his life and the future he and Lane could have together. Nice friends to lovers romance.
I will definitely Italy read more from this author, as this book was so enjoyable.
This was a pretty good read, but I wish it had more fireworks. I loved Theo and Lane, but the chemistry between them was not sizzling hot. There was nothing about their feelings for each other that leaped off the pages. However, I did like the fact that they were friends first before becoming more. I am not a fan of Insta-love. Anyway, I look forward to reading the next book by Xavier Neal.
